Louise Coombe

Williamsburg’s Own

Louise Coombe is a Williamsburg-based singer-songwriter who grew up on a Tennessee cattle farm and began her musical career after college while working in radio and TV. Her breakthrough came in 2007 through a collaboration with producer Ray Kennedy, leading her to focus on writing songs about Southern life.

Her 2010 album “Home” achieved significant success, debuting at #1 on Folk DJ charts and earning her comparisons to “William Faulkner with a guitar” for her storytelling approach. The album’s success launched extensive touring across the Eastern United States and earned her recognition at major folk festivals.

Following personal tragedies in 2012 – her divorce and mother’s death from brain cancer – Coombe channeled these experiences into her 2014 album “Lay It Down,” which appeared on several year-end “Best of” lists. Her music blends country, bluegrass, and folk influences, with audiences praising both her expressive voice (compared to Patty Griffin and Susan Tedeschi) and her storytelling between songs.

Louise has performed at prestigious venues like Nashville’s Bluebird Café and Boston’s Club Passim, and has won numerous songwriting competitions including the Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk Competition (2009, 2020), Wildflower! Festival Contest (2010), and others. She continues to write and perform, earning recognition as one of Nashville’s brightest emerging folk artists.

Her latest album is Paris, released in 2025.  Give a listen online or get a signed CD from her website.
