Dan Becker
Personal Instrumental Music
Dan Becker is a contemporary solo pianist and composer based in Western Massachusetts, creating deeply personal instrumental music that explores the full spectrum of human emotion. His compositions serve as a musical chronicle of his travails with bipolar disorder, transforming experiences of darkness, hope, isolation, passion and resilience into deeply expressive piano works.
Almost entirely self-taught, Becker composes intuitively, allowing emotion rather than convention to guide the music. His current minimalist style embraces space and silence as essential elements of expression, creating room for listeners to bring their own experiences into each piece. The result is music that feels intimate, honest, and profoundly human.
His recent release, Echoes of Silence, is a unique double EP featuring six original compositions, each recorded twice—once on grand piano and once on felted piano. The project reflects themes of solitude, contemplation, and healing, inviting listeners into moments of stillness where beauty can be found in life’s quiet spaces.
